Video Reports: July 2023
In July, as early monsoons brought pleasant relief from the scorching heat, they also unveiled the stark reality of ongoing violence in Manipur since May. The distressing events prompted the Rashtriya Lok Dal's workers to organise a candle march in Shamli to protest against the violence in Manipur and the incident involving women. People of Shamli stood united, vehemently condemning the atrocities and appealing for peace, while demanding justice for the victims.
In the midst of the incessant rains that took a toll on the livelihoods of certain communities in and around Shamli, flooding settlements and fields, the candle march shone a light on the urgency of addressing the Manipur violence and extending support to affected communities.
During this already tumultuous period, a shocking incident occurred in Deoband, where Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad was attacked by three men. The news sent shockwaves, particularly among the Dalit community, as Chandrashekhar Azad had emerged as a prominent voice for their rights in the country. In response to the attack, the Bhim Army organised a day-long protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, to condemn the violence against their leader and demanded Z+ security for him.
Joining the cause, prominent figures like Jayant Chaudhary and Swami Prasad Maurya also showed their support and shared their perspectives on the situation.
